Best tips to travel with Baby
Travelling with baby is not all of a cake walk. It is very important to plan well and have a checklist of everything that baby might require. Gone are the days when you could travel at a moment’s notice. So it is important to plan well and ensure that you do not miss taking anything for your baby.
Here is the basic checklist while packing stuff for your baby :-
1] VACCINATION & HANDY MEDICAL KIT : –
The important tip that you should follow is to vaccinate your child from diseases. Carry Handy medical kit wherever you go that contains bandages, thermometer and calamine lotion. Consult your pediatrician first for destination-specific advice and prescriptions, carry first-aid kit (fever meds, sanitizers, bandages), keep medical records handy, use a proper car seat, practice strict hygiene, and ensure all routine vaccinations are updated.
2] DIAPERS & WIPES: –
Diaper bag is most important. It should be at hand all the time and must have most of baby’s necessities. Along with diapers carry wipes, diaper rash cream, garbage cover to dispose diapers. Pack in plenty for any delays. Use zip lock bags for freshness and dirty storage. Carry portable changing mat, and always pack extra outfits and diaper cream for surprises. For cloth diapers, us waterproof wet bags and plan for laundry at your destination.
3] NEW TOYS : –
Carry baby’s favorite toys to keep baby busy and distract. Carry new and unseen toys such that baby gets engaged with the toy most of the time. Pack a variety of small, multifunctional toys (suction toys, crinkles, buckles) in a dedicated bag, give only 1-2 toys at a time, and have parent-approved items like your own bag for extra distraction, plus don’t forget wipes for cleaning the toys.
4] COMFORTABLE CLOTHES : –
Carry 2-3 pairs of clothes per day. Carry them based on the weather. Carry socks, shoes and booties to cope up if cold weather exists. Prioritize soft, breathable fabrics like cotton, use layers for temperature changes (especially on planes), pack multiple easy-change outfits. Pack more extras than you think you’ll need, as spills and blowouts are common.
5] FEEDING SUPPLIES : –
Pack formula/breast milk in insulated bags, bottles and carry a travel sterilizer to sterilize the used bottles. Use leak-proof containers for solids/purees, carry some home made snack if you have started solids. Always pack extra supplies for any delays. For solids, carry baby feeding set , opt for silicone suction mats, bibs and portable high chairs for hygiene and ease.
6] HYGIENE SUPPLIES : –
Pack travel sized toiletries, cleaning solutions, wet wipes, disposable bags, essential creams, hand sanitizer and some clean cotton napkins or old clothes. Organize everything in a dedicated diaper bag for easy access and also keep a small pack of wipes handy for on-the-go cleaning.
7] OTHERS : –
Old newspapers can come handy while disposing away stuff. Carry disposable bags of various size to store dirty clothes, diapers and dispose soiled diapers. Carry some extra towels ,napkins to clean during the spills.
