2026 Winter Olympics : Host Cities, Venues and Upcoming events

The 2026 Winter Olympics are currently being held in Italy. Officially known as the Milano Cortina 2026 Games, they are being co-hosted by the cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo from February 6 to February 22, 2026

For the first time in history, the Games are being officially co-hosted by two cities : Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Events are spread across eight locations in northern Italy, including Bormio, Livigno, AnterselvaPredazzo, and Tesero. The opening ceremony took place at San Siro Stadium in Milan, while the closing ceremony will be held at the historic Verona Arena in Verona. Ski mountaineering (skimo) is making its Olympic debut at these Games. The official mascots are Tina (a white stoat) for the Olympics and Milo (a brown stoat) for the Paralympics.

Host Cities and Venues

For the first time in Olympic history, the Games are being officially co-hosted by two cities and are spread across a wide geographical area in northern Italy. 

  • Milan (Milano): Hosted the opening ceremony at the San Siro Stadium on February 6 and serves as the primary hub for ice events like figure skating, ice hockey, and speed skating.
  • Cortina d’Ampezzo: Repurposing venues from the 1956 Games, this Alpine resort is hosting women’s alpine skiing, curling, and sliding events (bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton).
  • Other Clusters: Events are also being held in several other northern Italian towns, including:
    • Bormio: Men’s alpine skiing and the debut of ski mountaineering.
    • Livigno: Snowboarding and freestyle skiing.
    • Val di Fiemme (Predazzo and Tesero): Ski jumping, cross-country skiing, and Nordic combined.
    • Anterselva/Antholz: Biathlon.
  • Verona: The closing ceremony will be held on February 22 at the historic Verona Arena, a Roman amphitheatre.
